ClickFunnels: How to Embed and Customize a YouTube Video (Using HTML)

If you need help with a specific issue and want me to personally take a look at your setup, I can help! Check out the 'My Services' section of my blog:

Why not just paste the video the easy way?: 0:07

Showing you why you cannot customize video the easy way: 1:28

How to place the video using Javascript/HTML: 2:15

Customizing video (placement and size) : 3:26

Customizing video (time and autoplay) : 5:30

Hey all!

In this video, I wanted to show you how to embed a YouTube video into your ClickFunnels page so that you have full customization options available for it. If you only paste the video into your page the easy way by simply inputting the URL in the designated field, the only options you really have is whether to make the video autoplay or not. You can't even adjust the video size beyond a certain limit, and even then, it is a big pain in the butt trying to work with the ratios.

So in this video I wanted to help you with that and insert our own video so we have full control.

So the first thing we will need to do is to actually simply copy and paste the YouTube embed link of whatever video you want into the custom JS/HTML element in your ClickFunnels. Unfortunately, you won't be able to see the results of our changes on the spot, and will have to hit 'save' and 'preview' to actually see what changes were made, but better than nothing!

After you input the HTML code, the video will basically be totally available to you. However, it will be fairly small and on the very left side of the row. So we can start off by just typing in (I will substitute square brackets for triangle brackets since they are for some reason now allowed on YouTubez!) [center] just before the video embed code. Upon saving, that will simply and easily put my video in the very middle of the row!

Next, we should probably adjust the size. I would recommend you maintain the ratios are you see them at default, and use a calculator to see what the exact height to width ratio is so that your video stays proportional after your changes. But to change the video size, just type in the new width and height numbers that you want in the 'iframe' section, it should already be input for you, and all you would have to do is just play around with the numbers.

Next, if you want to create a certain time for the video to start playing at, which is something I consider to be invaluable, you need to add the following AFTER your video: '?start=xxx'. Substitute the 'xxx' with the amount of seconds you want your video to start playing after, and your video will immediately skip to that part after you click 'play' on ClickFunnels!

Last but not least, the other important feature you will most likely be using here is the autoplay feature. All you would need to do is just input the following: '&autoplay=1' right after your 'start' command. You are using the ampersand (&) because you need to separate the two commands from each other, and then 1 to signify 'yes' for autoplay.

Once you do all that, just click 'save' and preview', and your video should be good to go! The best part about this is that you can always go back and edit anything you want in this video in terms of size, autoplay feature, or start time, and add any other features you may want to it manually.

That's it!

Remember to add a ‘&’, not a ‘?’ when adding a new command right after your URL in HTML editor!

  • Goran Susnjar says:

Hey Ivan could you help me with a little problem I have

    • Goran Susnjar says:

Affiliate Marketing Essentials I’ve done that but it still doesn’t work

    • Online Marketing Essentials with Ivan Mana says:

Alright, let me get back to you on that, maybe fixing the dual playing problem will solve the autoplay one as well.

    • Online Marketing Essentials with Ivan Mana says:

Hey Goran, thanks for waiting. So I actually looked into this and even talked to a clickfunnels rep about this as there was nothing I could do myself to make it work.

The rep admitted that this was an error in the clickfunnels system, and should be repaired, hopefully soon. Sorry couldn’t help you more than that.

But in the meantime, the only way to make it work would be to NOT adjust the video for desktop and another for mobile, and just keep one video for both modes.

    • Goran Susnjar says:

Affiliate Marketing Essentials I’ve got it where it’s doesn’t auto play on mobile easiest way lol

    • Online Marketing Essentials with Ivan Mana says:

Haha that works too, hopefully the issue on their end will be fixed soon!

  • Lucy Sukow says:

how if the video is in the website not in youtube how you copy it?

    • Online Marketing Essentials with Ivan Mana says:

Ah, like if it is a video from another website? If there is no direct share or embed code available, you would need to use coding to identify the video, and even that may be tricky sometimes. Is this what you are referring to?

  • Matt Buchanan says:

Very useful! Thank you for your help man. Have a nice weekend.

    • Online Marketing Essentials with Ivan Mana says:

Thanks very much Matt, glad to have helped! Have a great weekend as well. πŸ™‚

    • Matt Buchanan says:

Hey man. I have had a problem with getting my videos to format onto the mobile version. Like when I go onto my funnel on my phone, the videos don’t fit right on the screen. I followed your steps to a T. Any suggestions?

    • Online Marketing Essentials with Ivan Mana says:

      Hey Matt!

Yeah, unfortunately I believe it has to do with ClickFunnels just not being as mobile responsive as they say.

It was really made to be simple and to just use the elements and options they presented you rather than you adding your own code – if you are any good at it, it is best to use something like WordPress (even though I know how to do a few things, I’m far from being a pro).

So at the moment, aside from some special coding which I do not know of, I’m afraid there is no way to make it look smaller only on the phone but the same size on desktop. :/

The one thing I would recommend is making the video appear on desktop only for the one with the code, and then just adding the video the regular ‘ClickFunnels’ way on mobile and making THAT video ‘seen on mobile only’.

Then it should be easier to adjust and that one should fit on the screen.

Can you give that a try and see if that works?

  • #Unscripted Income Marketing says:

    Outstanding! Thanks, a ton!

    • Online Marketing Essentials with Ivan Mana says:

You’re very welcome, thank you for the kind comment!!

    • Parker Townsend says:

Of course. I’m curious how to make it work on mobile? I embedded and centered but on mobile it stretches still?

    • Online Marketing Essentials with Ivan Mana says:

It would include some additional coding I am not too comfortable with, but can you try this?

Make this coded version on ‘desktop only’ and then use the regular way to add a video link for mobile using the basic ClickFunnels elements.

Can you see if that will work?

  • Bryan Vaughn says:

Dude your videos are awesome…I am new to affiliate marketing (6 months) and this is the go to place for my Clickfunnels questions…thanks very much for all you do.

    • Online Marketing Essentials with Ivan Mana says:

Bryan!! I am glad to help, and really appreciate the kind words man, they do mean a lot πŸ™‚

  • Sandeep Mishra says:

Can we add a thumbnail (picture from media files) to this video?

    • Online Marketing Essentials with Ivan Mana says:

Hmm, probably, but I haven’t looked into it. Might need to alter code somehow in order to do that if you want a custom thumbnail.

  • Anthony Ironeagle says:

My preview page isn’t working can you do a video on how to fix it please

    • Online Marketing Essentials with Ivan Mana says:

Hey Anthony! Sorry to hear that. πŸ™ What is the issue when you are clicking on preview? I can do a video if I can replicate the issue on my end but all is working fine and I don’t know if other users are having the same issue… can you try clearing your browser cookies and trying or using a different browser entirely? Usually that helps for issues like this.

  • Bradley Forbes says:

    Very informative! Thank you

  • Bradley Forbes says:

Question: First of all great video! My question is how do I loop the video so it keeps on replaying?

    • Online Marketing Essentials with Ivan Mana says:

Thank you! Hmm, not sure that is possible to do automatically! The link you put is taken from YouTube, and I believe the only way to do that would be to click the “Loop” button, but the visitor has to do that, can’t be automated!

  • Tina Blatz says:

very well done. what is the code to be added if i want my video to start from the beginning and stop half way through?

    • Online Marketing Essentials with Ivan Mana says:

Thank you very much Tina! Err, not sure there is a code that can do that… if so, would be best to ask a more advanced coder, sorry can’t help in this πŸ™

  • Dan Campion says:

Do you know how to make a Clickfunnels video castable to a internet linked tv? Ie. Play on phone but cast to tv for easier viewing.

    Thanks
    Dan

    • Online Marketing Essentials with Ivan Mana says:

Hey Dan! Sorry, do not know how to set that up πŸ™

    • Dan Campion says:

Online Marketing Essentials with Ivan Mana no worries. Thanks for the quick response

If anyone does know how to allow a Clickfunnels video to be casted please let me know. Would be huge for me.

      Thanks

    • Online Marketing Essentials with Ivan Mana says:

@Dan Campion Sure thing. Hopefully someone replies with an answer if they know it!

  • Dave Sad says:

Will you consider doing a video on how to make a “discount code/promo code” inside of clickfunnels? I’m thinking at the orderpage. No good tutourials out there from what I have found. Thank you for the content, you rock!

    • Online Marketing Essentials with Ivan Mana says:

Hey Dave! Thank you for the idea – haven’t added a code myself before, but I’ll see if I can find some information on it and will definitely make a video if I’m able to replicate it!

  • Simon Ridgewell says:

Thank you for this video. I was having so much trouble using the basic clickfunnels capabilities until I came across this video!

    • Online Marketing Essentials with Ivan Mana says:

You are very welcome Simon, happy to help and thanks for the kind words!

  • Ashley McPherson says:

Hey Simon, thanks heaps for your videos, you are my go-to if I can’t find the information in Clickfunnels support. I am stuck on something with my YouTube video. The sound doesnt seem to be working on mobile and also the YouTube branding is on my video so people could click this to watch video there and therefore miss the offer button when it appears.

I feel like i’m going round in circles on this.

    Love to hear your feedback

    Thanks alot

    • Online Marketing Essentials with Ivan Mana says:

Hey Ashley! Thank you for the support πŸ™‚

I can understand your frustration with ClickFunnels support sometimes. If you would like, I can take a more thorough look at your funnel if you can email me at ivan@amarketingessentials.com with more information/screenshots. This is something I would need to look at in your specific funnel as this is something I need to be able to replicate to work with.
